Free Counselling for University Students: Mental Health Support That Meets You Where You Are

Since 2012, REACH has partnered with Third Space Charity and Restored Image Counselling to deliver free, confidential, and supervised counselling to UBC Okanagan students in Kelowna and online. Each year, more than 1,000 sessions are provided, totalling over 20,000+ sessions of mental health care.

Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming counselling environment where university and college students can talk openly about anxiety, burnout, relationships, and identity, and take small, meaningful steps toward lasting mental wellness.

Partnership with REACH

The REACH University Counselling Program, in partnership with Restored Image Counselling (R.I.C.),
Third Space Charity, and UBC Okanagan, is making mental health support accessible for every student and empowering them with free, confidential, and meaningful counselling care that understands the university experience.

About the Reach Program Partnership

The REACH Program, in partnership with Third Space Charity, UBC Okanagan, and Restored Image Counselling (R.I.C.), provides accessible mental health support for post-secondary students.

Every session is led by a master’s-level counsellor, trained and supervised by R.I.C. There have been over 100+ who have now completed their graduate internships and practice in clinical counselling. This partnership bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world care, ensuring students receive compassionate, professional support when they need it most.

Whether you’re struggling with academic pressure, anxiety, relationships, or burnout, Restored Image Counselling is here to help you find balance and hope again.

Book a Session

University can feel overwhelming, whether it is academically, emotionally, socially, and personally. Booking a counselling session through the REACH Program for University Students is the first step toward finding clarity, support, and balance. Our streamlined process makes it easy to connect with a counsellor who understands the realities of student life.

Step 1

CHOOSE A COUNSELLOR

Browse our team of counsellors who specialize in working with post-secondary students.
Each counsellor profile includes areas of focus, such as academic stress, anxiety, identity development, relationships, and life transitions. This way you can choose someone who feels like the right fit for your goals and comfort level.

Step 2

SESSION TYPE, DATE & TIME

Once you’ve chosen your counsellor, select the type of session that works best for you (in-person, virtual, or on-site at a participating school). Pick your preferred date and time, and your spot will be reserved instantly through the JaneApp booking system.

LOOKING FOR A SESSION ON-SITE?

On-site sessions may be available if your school or institution is partnered with the REACH Program. After booking your in-person session, please message your counsellor through JaneApp to confirm on-site availability for your session.

Step 3

CREATE YOUR PROFILE

To confirm your booking, you’ll be prompted to create a JaneApp profile. This allows your counsellor to securely share intake forms, session notes, and follow-up resources. Once complete, you’ll receive your confirmation email and any next steps or wellness materials before your first session.

For Students, By Graduates

Through REACH’s University Program, students gain access to compassionate counselling from master’s-level interns, supervised by accredited Approved Clinical Supervisors (ACS) who understand the university experience. These sessions are designed to help you navigate academic pressure, social challenges, identity questions, and mental fatigue with the goal of helping you feel grounded, confident, and capable again.
